Struggling to start your Mercedes’ engine???
We have all been there… We know how annoying it can be to deal with a vehicle that refuses to start. So we decided to dedicate a blog post for this purpose- to explain things that can prohibit a car engine from coming to life. We have also compiled a list of remedies that you can try to resolve the issue. It is therefore advised that you read this blog post all the way through.
So, despite your repeated attempts your Mercedes won’t start… What’s going on, what’s prompting such a high-end luxury car to behave such a strange way and most importantly what can you do to get the issue addressed. Let’s find out.
The starter motor– that is entrusted with the task of cranking the engine- requires a significant amount of electricity to function. Ignition system parts employed to facilitate fuel combustion inside the cylinder also need electric power. It’s the battery that fulfills the energy requirement of all those parts. A glitch in a part that acts as the source of power for all the components involved in breathing life into the engine can contribute to no-start issue in a vehicle.
You won’t be able to start your Mercedes if the fuel supply is cut off. There is a special kind of arrangement in place to convey fuel from the gas tank to the combustion chamber. If there is something off with that particular arrangement- a faulty component or a damaged fuel line– fuel supply to the engine will be interrupted. This is something that can contribute to all sorts of performance issues including no-start issue.
You can think of the ignition system as the nervous center of your car engine. It is because of this system an internal combustion engine gets to burn air-fuel mixture inside the cylinder. If it ceases functioning because of a defective component or obstructed power supply, the engine won’t start. Wondering what can prohibit the ignition system from performing its intended function? Well, many different things… ranging from worn ignition switch to defective spark plugs.
You won’t be able to start your Mercedes if its starter motor fails to engage with the engine or it engages in an inappropriate manner. There can be many reasons why a vehicle’s starter might decide to take some time off; ranging from a defective solenoid to a problematic relay. As we have already discussed, disrupted power supply because of a weak battery or a defective wire can also contribute to starter motor failure in a vehicle.
Your Mercedes won’t start if its immobilizer system doesn’t recognize the key. Wondering what can prevent a vehicle from recognizing its own key? Well, many different things… ranging from a software glitch to a defective immobilizer receiver. If the key fob’s battery is drained or weak or it has sustained some form of physical or electrical damage, your Mercedes would have trouble recognizing its own key. As a result, you won’t be able to start it.
Evaluate the charge holding capacity of the battery. If it is old, consider replacing it. As a temporary measure, try jump starting.
Have your Mercedes’ ignition system parts including spark plugs, ignition switch, and other major parts checked by certified professionals. Repair the defective parts… don’t hesitate to replace some of these parts if the situation demands.
Check if there is sufficient fuel left in the gas tank of your Mercedes. Check of leaks, blockages, and faulty parts. Proceed as the situation demands.
Subject the key fob battery to volt test. If it has reached its maximum serviceable life, consider replacing it. Check for signs of wear and tear on key fob. If you notice any such indications, get the key fob repaired right away.
